• DIAMOND BRAIDED CORDS
1/16" through 3/8" diameter. #2 through #12 sizes Diamond Braided (or Maypole Braid) is an 8-carrier over and under basket stitch construction as shown in the illustration at left. It may have a hollow core or it can be made with strands in the center core to provide more accurate size, firmness, extra strength or to eliminate stretch. Normally its breaking strength is equal to that of the solid braid |

• SOLID BRAIDED CORDS
1/16" through 1/2" diameter. #2 through #l6 sizes Solid Braid (or Sash Cord Braid) is a locked stitch construction with a smooth appearance and small vertical picks as shown in the illustration at left. Small sizes are made on 9-carrier machines, intermediate sizes on 12-carrier machines, and large sizes on 18-carrier machines. This type of cord can be made without strands in the core and still retain its firmness and roundness. However, solid braid cords are most often made with strands in the core to achieve special characteristics |

• SMOOTH BRAIDED 16-C CORDS
1/16" through 1/2" diameter. #2 through #16 sizes 16-Carrier Braid is an over and under basket stitch or basket weave construction with 16 strands in the braided cover rather than 8 strands as in the diamond braid type. This smooth braided cord may be hollow, semi-flat, very soft and flexible, or it may have strands in the center core to increase firmness, size, or for other desirable reasons. |

• TWISTED ROPES 1/8" through 5/8" diameter Twisted Rope is usually 3-strand construction as shown at left. Many ends of yarn or filaments are twisted together into a single strand. Then three strands are twisted together with an opposite twist to form the finished rope. 4-strand and 2-strand ropes are constructed similarly. Twisted rope is usually stronger than braided cord of the same size because its filaments are parallel to each other at all times. |

• SPINNING INTO YARN
Selected raw cotton, and blends, purchased especially for cord production, is carded and spun into yarn in ROMOCO'S spinning mill. The quality and size of yarn is carefully controlled to assure the best of its type for the specific cord or rope it produces. There is never a question of shortage of yarn as ROMOCO spins its own supply. |

Loss of strength by sunlight is lessened considerably in all fibers if dark colors are used. The monofilament poly fibers have been oriented for greater resistance to sunlight deterioration. Safe working loads of cordage is 8% to 20% of listed tensile strengths. |
